| * Luke, One or two people ?? - READ ME !!!! ...and the following two Luke's. This lies in the heart of some confusion on John W. DUNNUCK. | ||
| Both are credited as being the parents of Luke ???? John W + to Sarah Hughes John + to Sarah Wiley Notes: A Luke is listed by Indiana 'family members' as being from the family of John (1773) and wife Sarah (Hughes) Dunnuck and is in the same age range with their other children. Also a Luke, as well as some of John's (1773) other children married in Ohio. ( John (1773) took his family to Ohio in 1818 and remained there until after 1835. A Luke married in Ohio in 1822.. This family believes their John 1773 descends from John 1747 and is the John Jr. listed in his fathers MD will of 1819 for several reasons. First, the two Dunnuck families are found together in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kansas, and secondly, the baptism of Luke at St. Joseph's, and lastly the obituary of daughter Catherine, daughter of John 1773. I wonder if there are TWO John and Sarah's; i.e. John and Sarah Hughes and John and Sarah Wiley.....and possibly even two Lukes.....but I don't think so. Might Sarah have been married twice, and actually be one person? In 1799 a Luke Wiley DUNNUCK, son of John and Sarah (?) DUNNUCK was baptized in the same church as the children of John (1747) and Catherine (SUTTON) DUNNUCK, which would seem to make this Luke a descendant of John (1747). However there is the problem. Two other children, Joseph Sutton Dunnuck and Hellen, both children of John and Sarah (?) were also baptized in the same church and generally do not appear in family records of John & Sarah (Hughes) Dunnuck. (I did find them in one record listing the children of John (1773) and Sarah that had no source. That record made sense when compared with the 1810 Maryland census, and it included other children as well that do not appear in other family records and may have died in infancy.) There is also a John W. DUNNUCK who married a Sarah WILEY. Sarah's parents are Sarah SUTTON, sister to Catherine (SUTTON) DUNNUCK, Daughter Sarah's husband was Vincent WILEY. Some list this John as son of John 1747. Could Sarah Wiley and Sarah Hughes be the same person?? I have not been able to verify this Sarah Wiley. |
